NATO Wellness Center:  Chicago Action Medical and the Healing Justice Network are organizing emergency first aid and wellness support for actions against the NATO summit May 14-21 (and throughout the Chicago Spring). The Wellness Center is located at Grace Place (637 S. Dearborn) and will be staffed by volunteer street medics and clinicians who can provide emergency first aid, chemical decontamination, health consultation, herbal remedies, body work, massage, and more. The Center opens May 14.

9:00am - 4:00pm People's Summit organized by Occupy Chicago.  This will be atwo-day conference sponsored by Occupy Chicago and the Coalition Against the NATO/G-8 War and Poverty Agenda in opposition to NATO and the G-8. “This event will host a wide range of workshop presenters to help educate our communities against war and poverty, mobilize for radical democracy, and present alternative visions of the future in a world without NATO/G-8.” This will take place at 500 W. Cermak in Chicago.

9:00am Iraq Veterans Against the War press Conference to announce plans for May 20 ceremony against NATO.  Location: IVAW memorial on Riverwalk near East Wacker Dr. and N. Wabash.

11:00am CAN-G8 Press Conference with international visitors at 8th Day Center for Justice, 205 W. Monroe, 5th Floor. 

2:00pm Occupy Chicago demonstration for environmentally sustainable transportation.  Location: Jackson and LaSalle. BRING BIKE.

3:00pm Rally outside the Canadian Consulate. Get dirty with Occupy Chicago against teh Alberta Tar Sands and the environmentally destructive agendas of NATO and G8. Location: 180 N. Stetson Ave. 

6:00pm  NATO Reps, Protestors to Debate - a public forum Pritzker Military Library, 104 South Michigan Ave. NATO representatives will meet with members of the largest anti-NATO protest group and Iraq Veterans Against the War for a 1-hour debate. 

6:00pm Sounds of a New Hope, a film on the hip hop movement in the Philipine struggle for national liberation.  Sponsored by BAYAN USA and ILPS.  Location: Korean American Resource Center, 2701 W. Peterson Ave.

9:00am - 12:00pm  Anakbayan USA Founding Congress

12:00pm - 1:30pm  Protest the Global 1% march organized by National Nurses United (at Daley Plaza), and joined by healthcare, labor and other community activists, and guests from other G-8 nations, will reconstruct Camp David in Chicago and conduct a search for the missing G8 leaders.  A centerpiece of the day is the call on world leaders to adopt national and international Robin Hood financial transaction taxes on major trading by banks and other financial institutions to raise revenue critically needed for revitalizing the economic health of the U.S. and other G8 nations. 1:00pm - 4:00pm Crime Busting March on Chicago's Climate Crooks!  March with the NATO Environmental Justice Alliance around the Chicago loop as they issue warrants for arrest of the corporations and government organizations responsible for destabilizing the climate. Location: 50 W. Washington.

Occupy Chicago Day of Action

10:00am - 12:00pm  Healthcar Not Warfare! Take the Fight to Rahm's House! The Mental Health Movement is calling on NATO protesters to occupy the public clinics being closed by Mayor Emanuel.  Location: Irving Park Brown Line Stop

1:00pm-6:00pm Founding Assembly of the International League of People's Struggles (ILPS), U.S. Chapter. 460 W. Lawrence Ave. (Albany Park), Chicago, IL 60625. Cost: $20 registration fee, that includes admission to cultural night. Lunch and dinner to be provided.

6:30pm Rising Waters: Global Warming and the Fate of the Pacific Islands.  A documentary and discussion on climate justice. Learn how to get involved in the environmental contingent for the HUGE march and rally to the NATO summit on Sunday May 20. Location: 1447 W. Superior.

7:00pm This Land is Our Land! A Centennial Celebration of Woody Guthrie at 3730 N. Clark St., Chicago, IL 60613.  The concert is a culmination of a month-long festival of cultural events that celebrate artistic and creative expression as a form of protest, presented portoluz.

8:00pm - 11:00pm Road to Resistance: Art + Culture + Solidarity vs. NATO, a cultural event sponsored by the International Conference on Progressive Culture-People's Art Network (ICPC-PAN), International League of Peoples Struggle (ILPS) and BAYAN USA.  Featured artists include: BAGWIS, BANDUNG 55, IZQ and more great performers. Imperialism is the focus of day for Occupy Chicago's Week of Action.

9:00am Rally and March for Justice and Reconciliation called by Iraq Veterans Against the War.  The rally will begin at Grant Park, south of the Lincoln Monument (E. Balbo Ave. and S. Columbus Dr.) 9:00am Rally with acts of reconciliation, speakers and music. 11:00am Step off. 12:00pm At the convention center, Veterans will ceremoniously return their medals. 1:00pm The march will conclude at the Victory Monument (Monument to WWI Black Veterans) on 35th and MLK

12:00pm Rally and protest called by Coalition Against NATO/G8 (CAN G8) to begin at Daley Plaza, downtown Chicago. Issues on the table include jobs, healthcare, education, pensions, housing and the environment, and no war.
