World March of Women Concept Paper 2015

In 2014, members of the Grassroots Global Justice Alliance (GGJ) participated in a historic vote to launch the first ever US chapter of the World March of Women. With this launch, the US becomes the 65th country/territory in the world, and the 17th in the Americas, to build a national WMW chapter. GGJ has been in close relationship with WMW for many years: attending each other’s membership gatherings, collaborating to coordinate the Social Movement Assemblies at a number of World Social Forums, informing each other’s analysis and supporting each other’s work. The WMW operates on the principle that there is no one version of feminism that will work for every community, and so the GGJ membership has been inspired to encourage the articulation of a diversity of feminisms.
