Community Report-Back & Looking Ahead for Climate Justice:
Durban and Beyond
Wednesday, January 25, 6:30-9pm
At the Center for Political Education, 522 Valencia
San Francisco (near 16th and Mission BART)

We hope you’ll join us for this exciting chance to come together with a powerhouse of local, national, and international organizations working on climate justice, including dynamic ways to interact and build with each other.

• Hear from leaders like Tere Almaguer of PODER & GGJ, Michael Leon Guerrero of GGJ, Alberto Gomez and Elizabeth Mpofu from La Vía Campesina (Mexico and Zimbabwe), sharing their experiences from the Durban climate justice mobilizations. 
• Share connections between what happened in Durban and the 1000s of Durbans around the world (including in the Bay Area). 
• Inspire each other with pictures, music, and ideas about what some of our opportunities are going forward to build a stronger movement for people and Mother Earth - such as the people's movement work toward the "Rio+20" this June!

We will have interpreting, childcare, and food/refreshments.

Esperamos que puede asistir con nosotros para este oportunidad emocionante de juntarnos con un grupo tan poderoso de organizaciones locales, nacionales, e internacionales, incluyendo maneras dinámicas para intercambiar y constuir un movimiento más fuerte.  Vamos a:

• Escuchar de líderes tal como Tere Almaguer de PODER & GGJ, Michael Leon Guerrero de GGJ, Alberto Gomez y Elizabeth Mpofu de La Vía Campesina (Mexico y Zimbabwe), compartiendo sus experiencias de las mobilizaciones por la justicia climática en Durban. 
• Compartir conexiones entre lo que pasó en Durban y los 1000s de Durbans alrededor del mundo (incluyendo en California).

• Recursos: Todos somos recursos. Todo ser humano tiene algo que aportar.

Redefinir el Trabajo: Algunos trabajos no se puede poner un precio. El trabajo tiene que ser redefinido para valorar todo lo necesario para criar niños saludables, crear familias fuertes, mejorar los barrios, promover la justicia social, y hacer el planeta sostenible.
• Reciprocidad: Ayuda y apoyo funciona mejor como una vía de doble sentido
• Red Social: Nos necesitamos unos a otros. Las redes son más fuertes que los individuos.
• Respeto: Todos seres humanos valemos
. Cuando el respeto se le niega a alguien, todos estamos heridos.

What is the Mutual Aid Cooperative?
The cooperative is a project coordinated by PODER in which members give their time or receive help from other members through a system of exchange in which value and reciprocity is measured in hours not money. Services are exchanged for services or favors for favors.

5 Core Values of the Mutual Aid Cooperative:

• Assets: We are all assets.
 Every human being has something to contribute.


• Redefining Work: Some work is beyond price.
Work has to be redefined to value whatever it takes to raise healthy children, build strong families, revitalize neighborhoods, make democracy work, advance social justice, make the planet sustainable.
• 
Reciprocity: Helping works better as a two-way street.

• Social Networks: We need each other.
 Networks are stronger than individuals. People helping each other weave communities of support, strength & trust.
• Respect: Every human being matters.  When respect is denied to anyone, we all are injured

The occupy movement taking place in major cities throughout the country is waking up the consciousness, imagination and radicalism of a generation. And, in a direct response to the ongoing economic crises, the dirty politics and growing destruction of our mother earth our communities stand resilient. 

This week we celebrate our resiliency and our traditions. On Friday Oct 28 in the Mission District's Secret Garden we celebrate Dia De Los Muertos and introduce a new generation to the stories our elders have told for centuries.
