At Network of Social Movements Meeting

I am in Brazil. First for the first 3 days I am in Sao Paulo for the meeting of the Network of Social Movements. It is a small group, less than 25 people. Groups represented include the Central Unica de Trabalhadores do Brazil (CUT), Landless Peoples' Movement (MST), World March of Women, Network for the Abolition of Third World Debt, Via Campesina, ATTAC Argentina, the Hemispheric Social Alliance and a Brazilian students organization. People are from India, Senegal, Indonesia, Senegal, Belgium, Italy, Cuba, Argentina and Brazil. We are now doing introductions and offering our expectations for the meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to define a common program of action among international networks, and also discuss the relationship of the networks to the World Social Forum. Next week I will be in Porto Alegre for the seminar on the 10th Anniversary of the World Social Forum.
