GGJ Stands in Solidarity with the World March of Women
Alessandra Ceregatti of the World March of Women, a sister movement to GGJ, joined us from São Paolo Brazil for our 4th membership assembly in Miami. The World March of Women is launching its Third International Action on March 8, 2010 under the slogan "Women on the March Until We are Free". GGJ created this statement in solidarity with their action, which mobilizes millions of women across Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas.
"The Grassroots Global Justice – an alliance of grassroots organizations across the United States building power for poor and working class people with a global vision, stands in solidarity with the International World March of Women’s Movement in your fight to end violence against women and to eradicate poverty across the globe. In our work, we uphold the importance of women’s leadership in building a larger global movement against imperialism and for the liberation of all peoples. As an alliance we are committed to deepening our analysis of gender in relation to white supremacy and patriarchy and stand with you in this 100th year commemoration of International Womens’ Day and support your actions from March 8th to October 17th, 2010 and in the ongoing fight for womens’ rights throughout the world."
