Congress Program - In Progress!
The program working group of the GGJ Coordinating Committee and Staff are working hard to shape a deep and exciting program for the Congress.
Check back to this link for ongoing developments!
Here are some highlights as of July 1:
The latest update on attendance: we are projecting attendance of about 250 people at the Congress, including 200 members from all over the country, 12 international allies from frontline struggles around the world, 10 national allies working on climate justice, anti-militarization and more, and at least 20 local and regional allies from around North Carolina and the Southeast.
Local Action with BWFJ and Allies: Coinciding with the 6th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the local organizing committee is planning a dynamic action focused on demands for jobs and public services and to highlight the more than 10% unemployment rate in North Carolina. There is an opportunity for Congress participants to bring unemployment statistics from their states to display on banners.
Open Space Workshops: We'll have 8 slots available for 1.5 hour member-led workshops during the Congress. To submit a proposal, download the proposal form here and email it to Cindy@ggjalliance.org by July 22.
GGJ Banquet: Together with the local organizing committee we will be throwing a banquet celebration on Saturday evening August 27th. Featuring local organizers and international allies as speakers, the banquet will be a chance to meet a number of organizers and community members from North Carolina and around the Southeast. Get ready to be wowed by local musicians and chefs cooking up a "1st class for the working class" meal and party!
