GGJ Supports the Honduran People's Resistance in Boycotting November 29 Elections

Support for the Boycott is support for Honduran Democracy

Since the illegal military coup of June 28, 2009 that put dictator Roberto Micheletti in power, the Honduran people have endured systematic state-sponsored attacks on their democratic rights to assembly, protest, privacy and safety.

Honduran union & USAS win historic victory with Russell Athletic case

United Students Against Sweatshops wants to share news of a major victory with all of you who have supported our efforts along the way.

As many of you know, USAS launched a campaign last year after Russell Athletic shuttered its Jerzees De Honduras facility in retaliation to workers' union organizing efforts. Since then, USAS members successfully pressured over 100 universities to stop doing business with Russell, making this the largest collegiate boycott of a single company that we're aware of in history.

Pittsburgh or Tegucigalpa

It's a rainy day in Pittsburgh, but it feels like the calm before the storm. Arrived late yesterday, but even at night you could see how picturesque the city is. Downtown is almost completely surrounded by water as the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers converge to form the Ohio River. A series of bridges connects downtown to the rest of the city. We'll go into downtown today to visit the offices of the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers, a last chance before the bridges will be closed that grant people access to the city's center.

We are all Honduras, We resist!

The World March of Women and the Red Latinoamericana Mujeres Transformando la Economía join all feminist organizations and social movements from Honduras to condemn and strongly reject the military coup against president Manuel Zelaya Rosales, organised by the Army and the President of the National Congress, Roberto Micheletti, with the support of the mass media controlled by the oligarchy of that country.
