A Feminist Popular Education Toolkit

We are so excited to present our Berta Cáceres International Feminist Organizing School Guidebook, A Feminist Popular Education Toolkit.

Please contact us if you have any questions or need technical support.

This book is a labor of love—implemented, practiced, and taught by grassroots feminist leaders, discussed and studied by School participants, and nurtured by grassroots struggles around the world. We tell the story of the development of our Berta Cáceres International Feminist Organizing School (IFOS), birthed from a dream years ago to its realization today.

We share how we organized the School following principles of language justice and inclusivity to encompass the full spectrum of gender identities and sexual orientations. You’ll get an inside view of what it takes to organize an international, multi-language, online school during a global pandemic, such as building teams of interpreters, facilitators, and logistical and technical support.

It is our wish that this Guidebook will be a resource for grassroots movements, sharing the lessons and inspiration from our Feminist Organizing School model, and our vision for how to implement these in the future. You will be able to explore aspects of our beautifully illustrated curriculum, learn how we developed workshops, and delve into the liberatory practice of mística. A synthesis of our 2021 IFOS is covered, as well as some evaluations from participants, and we share our vision for the development of a face-to-face school.

This curriculum is the result of a participatory process rooted in action and in collective learning. We hope this material will inspire you to stay engaged with and support global feminist movements. Thank you for your interest in our book!

About our 2021 International Feminist Organizing School:

In 2021, in partnership with Grassroots International, Indigenous Environmental Network (IEN), and World March of Women, we held our first cohort of the International Feminist Organizing School. Over 20 weeks, we held 16 virtual sessions in 4 languages, exploring subjects like Systems of Oppression and Feminist Economy. Our 120 students hailed from 38 countries, from the U.S. and Mexico, to Cuba and Haiti, to Peru and Brazil, to Palestine and Turkey, to Mozambique and Kenya, and to Pakistan, the Philippines, and beyond.

Our School worked to strengthen the international grassroots feminist movement by deepening our collective knowledge, facilitating connections, and creating a cooperative space to share experiences, reflections, and political practices. This solidarity between people in the Global North and Global South is an act of resistance in itself, offering alternatives to the oppressive structures of our societies, and lighting the path toward our solution of a Feminist, Anti-racist, Regenerative Economy and full emancipation for all.

We resist to live, we march to transform!
