Born and raised in Mexico City, currently living in Los Angeles, Mariana brings experience in community and youth organizing, grassroots project development, narrative strategy, curriculum development, popular education and facilitation. For the last few years she has  mostly been involved in migrant rights, racial justice, just transition, ideological change, anti-militarism, and self-determination organizing. She is the It Takes Roots Project Coordinator and a trainer with Center for Story-based Strategy.

Mariana deeply believes in the power of utopian imagination and in the collective determination of communities. When she is not organizing, studying, or eating with friends, she is usually climbing rocks.
