People’s Summit at Rio+20 for Social and Environmental Justice against Commodification of Life and in Defense of the Commons
LET’S MOBILIZE IN RIO, IN YOUR REGION, IN YOUR CITY, IN YOUR COMMUNITY
We, the movements and social organizations, must mobilize on our scopes of reference, on a coordinated and articulated way. The 5th and 20th of June will be marked by local and global actions. We need the world to know our messages. With that in mind, the Summit invites organizations, groups, networks and people from everywhere in Brazil and in the world to get together in manifestations and actions during these days.
LET’S MOBILIZE IN RIO, IN YOUR REGION, IN YOUR CITY, IN YOUR COMMUNITY in order to:
- Expose and report the structural causes of the crisis and the false solutions that their own creators want to impose in order to refund capitalism. We ought to expose and denounce them.
- Promote the real solutions coming from the People to eradicate the social, economic and environmental injustice. We ought to render visible our proposals and gain support for them.
- Render visible the struggles of our communities against the advance of capital on our lifes; on the cities, on the countryside, on the seaside, wherever.
- Move forward on the articulation of those struggles turns out essential so as to progress on the construction of People’s power. Internationalize the struggle for system change; articulating, coordinating the local struggles.
JUNE 5TH – LET’S MOBILIZE IN RIO, IN YOUR REGION, IN YOUR CITY, IN YOUR COMMUNITY in order to:
- To pressure our governments, showing that we will not accept false solutions to the crises and for support to our proposals.
- We must show them we are watching out. We have to show them that we are aware of what they intend to do in Rio.
JUNE 20TH – GLOBAL ACTION DAY: LET’S MOBILIZE IN RIO, IN YOUR REGION, IN YOUR CITY, IN YOUR COMMUNITY
- For Social and Environmental Justice,
- Against the Commodification of Life, and
- In Defense of the Commons.
It’s very important to connect and coordinate all the mobilizations that will happen during these days. We need the world to know our messages.
The People’s Summit invite all the organizations, entities, networks, groups and colectives of any place in Brasil and in the World to send us informations about what they are planning to do on the 5th or 20th of June (we are also interested in mobilizations happening on other days) by writting an e-mail to the Mobilization Working Group: mobiliza@rio2012.org.br
